compiz-plugins-main-dev software package provides transitional dummy package., you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install compiz-plugins-main-dev
compiz-plugins-main-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the compiz-plugins-main-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep compiz-plugins-main-dev *
You will get with compiz-plugins-main-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
